Michel Désautels will retire at the end of the season Desalts on Sunday. He will host his last show on Sunday, June 18.
“It is with mixed feelings that I have decided to retire at the end of the season. Leaving the House that has been mine for 50 years gives me a good shot of the blues. But this feeling quickly fades when I think of the chance I had to practice a wonderful job, with colleagues who sincerely believe in the relevance of public service. I never entered the office backwards. I leave with a smile on my face, ”said Michel Désautels, in a press release.
Michel Désautels began his journalistic career at Radio-Canada at the Toronto station in 1972. On Radio-Canada television, he was one of the hosts of the weekly version of the magazine Point alongside Jean-François Lépine, Daniel Pinard and Gil Courtemanche.
Michel Désautels is also the author of three books, namely Pierre Gauvreau – The three times of a peace (1997), novels Smileys (1998) and Next week I want to die (2000).
“Michel Désautels is literally a radio giant. He is recognized for his phenomenal career, his immense talent as a facilitator, communicator and journalist, in international, national or regional politics, as well as in sport and culture. Erudite in everything, he also has a phenomenal memory. Throughout his career, the listeners of the public broadcaster have been able to appreciate his warm voice and his great talents as a popularizer. An ardent defender of public radio, he will be missed by all of us, ”said the Director General of Information, Luce Julien.
