(Ottawa) Pat King, one of the organizers of the “freedom convoy”, will face two new charges.

Mr. King already faces several counts related to his involvement in the protests in Ottawa, including mischief, intimidation, obstructing police work and disobeying a court order.
The Crown announced Thursday morning that Mr. King would also be charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. These charges were to be formally filed in the afternoon.
We also learned, Thursday morning, that his lawyer’s computer had been hacked, which explains the sudden interruption, Wednesday, of his review hearing of his preventive detention, in Superior Court in Ottawa.
A publication ban prevented the media from reporting on the hack on Wednesday, but Judge Graeme Mew lifted his order on Thursday morning, after hearing arguments from a lawyer representing several media companies.
The rest of the evidence and testimony presented in court on Wednesday still cannot be released.
A robotic voice
Mr King’s lawyer, David Goodman, was taking part in the hearing via video link on Wednesday when a female robotic voice began speaking from his computer. The voice warned him not to shut down or restart his computer because his IP address had been accessed.
The Crown later indicated that M’s client filesand Goodman appeared to have been compromised, but on Thursday morning the attorney told the court that nothing had been corrupted. It is unclear whether this cyberattack was related to the King case.
The next hearing to review the detention order will take place at a later date.
Lawyers for Mr. King are asking the Ontario Superior Court to review the February 25 decision to keep the accused in custody until his trial. The Court began hearing arguments from the parties on Wednesday morning in Ottawa.
Pat King was a key player in the truckers’ protest against health measures and against the federal government. Protesters invaded the heart of Ottawa at the end of January, blocking streets for three weeks and sounding their horns at all hours of the day and night.
