Demonstration against sanitary measures in Montreal





Hundreds of people gathered in the Old Port of Montreal in opposition to the vaccine passport and the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The event comes as the province reports an increase in hospitalizations and deaths linked to the virus on Saturday.

The demonstration started at 1 p.m. at Place Jacques-Cartier and headed west. Demonstrators marched to the sound of drums and whistles, waving signs that read “Illegal and unjustified dictatorship” and “No to the vacci-mal passport”. Most of those present were not wearing face coverings and were not observing physical distancing.

The crowd chanted slogans such as “freedom”.

The march takes place under police surveillance.

In order to try to break the Omicron wave, the vaccine passport will be required in SAQ and SQDC branches in the province as of January 18.
