“I find that there are symbolic dates. May 8 is not nothing, it is an important date for our country that must be respected”, defends Monday, May 8 on franceinfo Jean-Michel Jacques, Renaissance deputy for Morbihan, rapporteur for the military programming bill. 3,000 people demonstrated in Lyon while the President of the Republic went to the former prison of Montluc where Jean Moulin and other resistants were detained. It is a demonstration that “It pains me because seeing such attitudes on such a strong symbol is really inappropriate, it is not appreciated at all by the French”insists Jean-Michel Jacques.
“Behind each date, there are symbols, there are people, sacrifices, that’s what must be respected. The right to demonstrate must be respected, but there are days to choose anyway. You have to think to the sacrifices of all our soldiers.”

He hopes these “pans” will last “as little time as possible because what is important is that our country needs to move forward. What is happening through these ‘pans’ is preventing the expression of each other”, according to the deputy of Morbihan. According to Jean-Michel Jacques, “we must dissociate the perception that we can have through these phenomena, it represents part of the French population but not all of France (…), always sinking into demands and not advancing is not what which suits the French”.
