In Italy, the birth rate is falling very sharply. 1.24 is the average number of children per woman. This is an unprecedented situation in Italy and never seen for one hundred and fifty years.

Sardinia (Italy) is a region without children, less than one per family on average. And now it shows even in cities like Oristano where the school group had to close a few years ago, for lack of students. In another city, the school is new and well equipped but now useless. In neighboring municipalities, the situation is the same. On the sector, 50% school groups are closed.

Sports clubs, businesses and more generally all economic activity suffer from this absence of young people. In Sardiniathere are almost as many retirees as working people and life has changed. Since July 1, 2021, all families in Italy receive a bonus of 250 euros per month and per child up to the age of 21. Sardinia is a paradoxical city, at the top of all European rankings for the quality of the environment, yet it is the only Mediterranean island that loses thousands of inhabitants every year.
