Reports produced jointly by The Press and 98.5 may have given the unfortunate impression that The duty had failed in its obligations of rigor and accuracy in the context of the preparation of its investigation into the humorist Julien Lacroix, in July 2020. Nothing could be further from the truth. The approach of our journalist, Améli Pineda, was carried out according to the highest standards of rigor expected in journalism, based on the information, corroborated, which we had at the time from nine alleged victims. In December 2021, The duty had given the floor to Julien Lacroix, at his request, on his rehabilitation process.
We respect the journey of some of the nine alleged victims, who today say they regret the impact of their actions. This is part of the broader, and complex, social debate of the #MeToo movement.
For the sake of strict compliance with our confidentiality obligations, The duty asked for the background of the story and offered to answer questions from The Press and 98.5 in writing; these declined.
The duty will not grant any interviews on this matter.
