Lazy gardener Larry Hodgson is no more. The horticultural columnist, who delivered his valuable advice in the pages of Sun for nearly 40 years, passed away on Wednesday, surrounded by his loved ones. Suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years, he requested medical assistance in dying in order to shorten his suffering.

Larry Hodgson’s son, Mathieu, made the announcement early Thursday morning on the Laidback Gardener blog. “On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Larry Hodgson left us. He was surrounded by his close family: his son Mathieu and his spouse, his wife Marie and his wife’s children and their spouses. His last days were comfortable and serene. He was visited by friends and members of his family, and he even feasted one last time with friends from the Quebec Art Company,” he wrote.
