Jean-Pierre Pernaut died on March 2, 2022, victim of complications related to heart surgery. His funeral was held on March 9, from the Sainte-Clotilde basilica in Paris, in the presence of his friends, colleagues from TF1 and his relatives. Among them: Olivier, his eldest son.
Today aged 40, the son of the late journalist and his ex-wife Dominique Bonnet, has a job related to a passion of his dad since he is the team manager of a racing team and a racing driver. During the funeral, like Tom and Lou – the children of Pernaut and his second wife Nathalie Marquay – he spoke. “I will forever remember the last look we exchanged, the day before your operation, when I left your room. We both looked a little worried, I think. And we didn’t really want to leave each other that day (…) Dad, you so deserved to enjoy your retirement [il avait lâché les commandes du 13H en décembre 2020, laissant la place à Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, NDLR] to rest. Traveling, spending time with your children, your grandchildren…“, he said, in remarks reported by the magazine Gala.
Indeed, Olivier Pernaut is the father of two children: Rose and Léo (the latter had also appeared on the air of TF1 during the last television news of his grandfather). Thanks to his eldest daughter, Julia, Jean-Pierre Pernaut was also the grandpa of Iris and Eléa. At the podium, Julia took the opportunity to discuss the values inherited from her late dad. “These values we now pass on to our children. Your grandchildren, of whom you were so proud“, she added.
Although marked by the disappearance of his dad, Olivier Pernaut tries to mourn and resume the course of his life. The latter indicated in particular that he had also respected a commitment planned for a long time in Spain. In the story from his Instagram account, on Saturday March 12, he shared stories captured on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit during the 2022 edition of the Fun Cup.
