Sofia of Sweden and her husband Prince Carl were out this Thursday, February 24. The glamorous couple traveled to Stockholm for the inauguration of an interactive museum, called Avicii Experience, in tribute to DJ Avicii, who died in 2018 at just 28 years old after taking his own life. It is therefore all in sobriety and elegance that the prince and princess attended this event. But for once, Sofia stole the show from her husband. The magnificent 37-year-old brunette bet on sobriety and elegance. The black outfit she had chosen – loose pants and a close-fitting top – was topped with a large belt highlighting her figure. Her husband was dressed in a blue tie suit, matching perfectly with his wife’s outfit.
If their status as members of the royal family led them to ensure such an appointment, Prince Carl and Princess Sofia were actually much closer to DJ Avicii than many think. During their wedding in June 2015, the artist had performed to make the guests dance. At the announcement of his death, the couple had therefore naturally paid tribute to him in an official press release: “We are more than grateful to have known him. He made our wedding even more unforgettable thanks to his talent and his music” they wrote. A year later, Sofia and Carl from Sweden attended a charity concert whose funds were donated to associations and organizations fighting against mental illness.
If the thesis of the suicide of Avicii was quickly confirmed, the causes remained unclear for a moment. Until those close to the DJ came out of the silence, claiming that Tim Bergling, his real name, “was not made for the situation in which he found himself [la célébrité, ndlr]. He was a sensitive man who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight“. Consumed by a deep malaise, Avicii had even taken refuge in alcohol. In a documentary broadcast on Netflix, images had caused controversy. The DJ seemed haggard and made remarks that could have alerted: “I was going crazy. I had everything to be happy and yet I was not“. On April 20, 2018, Avicii finally killed himself to end his ordeal.
