In Japan, devastating floods have claimed several victims: at least seven dead and several people missing. Torrential rains of unprecedented magnitude have hit the country, where the army has been called in as reinforcements.
Floods are raging in central Japan. In a video provided by Ishikawa Prefecture, dozens of buses and cars are submerged. Torrential rains have fallen. In just a few hours, 540 mm of water fell in the city of Wajima, a record for the region. “I was born in 1960, I have never seen the water rise so high“, assures a man.
The ground has given way in places under torrents of water. Landslides have buried several houses. At least seven people have died, and several people are still missing. This is the second disaster in 2024 in the same region of Japan. In January, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake killed 318 people.
