Davis Cup | Alexis Galarneau will play the first game for Canada

This decision was taken after the official draw made on Thursday. This draw was used to determine the clashes which will take place on March 4 and 5, on the indoor clay court of the Sportcampus Zuiderpark in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The Canadian team, which is made up of Galarneau and Ontarians Steven Diez, Brayden Schnur and Peter Polansky, will play two singles matches on Friday, as well as two singles matches, followed by a doubles match, on Saturday against the Dutch team.

This is made up of Botic van de Zandschulp (50), Tallon Griekspoor (60), Robin Haase (250), Wesley Koolhof (21 in doubles) and Matwe Middelkoop (27 in doubles).

Galarneau will start the singles program against van de Zandschulp, before returning to the court the next day for a second singles match, this time against Griekspoor. Galarneau, who is 23, is currently ranked at 332and world level and is representing the Maple Leaf at the Davis Cup for the very first time in his career.

The winning country of this duel will obtain its place in the Davis Cup Finals disputed next autumn, while the loser will have to redo its classes in the Group I of the region, in September.
