Data Leakage | 200 million agreement with Desjardins

(Montreal) Desjardins Group announced Thursday that a settlement agreement of more than $ 200 million has been reached with claimants represented by the law firms Siskinds Desmeules and Kugler Kandestin following the filing of class actions related to the leaks of personal information announced in June 2019.

Desjardins specifies that the agreement is currently subject to the approval of the Superior Court of Quebec, which must approve it before it can come into force.

The agreement provides that a maximum of more than 200.85 million will be paid in the form of individual payments to eligible persons who request them.

It particularly targets members or former members, clients or former clients holding or having held credit cards or financing products at Desjardins points of sale.
