In the work of director Martin Zimmermann, the figure of the clown is special with a tragicomic universe that he has been developing for twenty years. The characters in the show are borderline, characters outside of society, fragile but also funny.
In “Danse macabre”, the theme of survival is treated in a funny and offbeat way with the 4 characters who evolve in a reconstituted waste dump on the set. They must therefore seek themselves out, reinvent themselves in order to succeed in existing in this particular place.
The 5th character is that of death, played by Martin Zimmerman. He is invisible to the others, and he pulls the threads of the story like a sort of puppeteer, who has fun with the other circus performers by moving objects on stage, for example. A universe that can sometimes make you think of Tim Burton, but also largely inspired by Charlot or Buster Keaton.
