(Montreal) A cyclist suffered significant head injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough, in Montreal.
The collision occurred Saturday morning, around 6:40 a.m., at the intersection of Pie-IX and Laurier boulevards.
“On the scene, the police provided assistance to the cyclist, a 46-year-old man who was lying on the ground and had serious injuries to his head,” said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Police Department. Montreal City Police (SPVM).
The man was conscious when taken to hospital. His state of health was immediately unknown.
“According to initial information obtained by the police, a vehicle was traveling on Pie-IX Boulevard, heading north, and struck the cyclist as he crossed the intersection heading east. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, and his 23-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and nervous shock. They were transported to a hospital,” said Officer Dubuc.
A security perimeter was established to protect the scene. Boulevard Pie-IX was closed to traffic between Boulevard Saint-Joseph and Rue Masson.
