For lovers of wide open spaces and nature, why not travel the roads of France by bike? Enough to live a total change of scenery… This is the postcard of the 13 Hours.
“We paid to drool. You have to be a masochist”. Catherine and Corinne set themselves a challenge: to travel 187 kilometers on the banks of the Loire in five days. This is the first time that these retirees have gone on a cycling holiday. “We don’t meet anyone, it’s the holidays. The place is ideal, it’s bucolic”, says one of them. They can thus discover the castles of the Loire. For these two friends, cycling through the region is like doing tourism in a different way.
Two couples of friends have chosen the Canal du Midi for a seven-day hike between Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Sète (Hérault). “To get away from it all, get around by bike and be in a very green setting by the canal, I think there is no better”, says a tourist. That evening, they stop in Castelnaudary (Aude) to taste the local speciality: cassoulet. On the island of Porquerolles (Var), the car is prohibited so the bike is welcome. Jacques Terry was the very first to open his rental shop there.
