Cultural summer | We go out as a family

June is upon us. The end of classes is approaching. Soon it will be summer. To help your children wait, here are some ideas for fun outings.

Fouki at the funfair

A funfair atmosphere will take over Jeannotte Street, in Vaudreuil-Dorion, for the 18e edition of the Circus Festival, which will be held from June 21 to 23. Acrobats and clowns won’t be the only ones there. In addition to circus shows and rides, the festival offers a great free musical program. The rapper Fouki and the energetic Boogie Wonder Band will get the crowd dancing.

Kite flying will be in the spotlight at Frédéric-Back Park.

Beautiful touches of color will adorn the sky of Frédéric-Back Park at the beginning of the month when the Grain de ciel festival takes place. Experienced kite flyers from Canada, the United States, Switzerland and Austria will amaze the public with their flying machines. Young and old are invited to join them with their own kite or with one of those loaned by TOHU. Kite-making workshops, exhibitions, youth theater and crafts are also part of the free programming.

The Tour at night, in 2019

On your mounts! As a family, join the thousands of cyclists who will take to the streets of Montreal (and surrounding areas) as part of the Go Vélo Montréal festival. As in past years, different routes are offered. The Tour la nuit, a festive night ride of 24 kilometers, will take place on May 31. The Tour of the Island, and its choice of routes ranging from 28 to 96 kilometers, will be held on June 2. The Défi métropolitain, which awaits cyclists in the Lanaudière region for this 2024 edition, will launch the festivities on May 26.

The Great Laval Firefighters’ Festival

Does your child dream of one day fighting flames? The Great Laval Firefighters Festival is the ideal event for him. Nearly 200 firefighters and fire prevention inspectors will be on site to introduce the public to their world. How does a roof rescue work? How do they put out a vehicle fire? Firefighters will demonstrate it. Musical shows, truck parade and awareness activities will also take place during this 16e editing.

The duo of the Kif-Kif sisters

The VLOC alley, near Outremont Avenue, in Montreal, will be transformed into a performance hall for a free performance. The duo of the Kif-Kif sisters will perform their clown play there Returns Department, Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. In it, two twins have fun with dysfunctional merchandise returned to the store. A great way to celebrate the end of school and, for schoolchildren, to start the summer vacation.
