The Paper Fair at the Grand Quai
It is under the sign of reunion that the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries is organizing its 14e Paper fair, at the end of the week, at the Grand Quai of the Port of Montreal. After tonight’s VIP event, tours are available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, by purchasing a ticket online. Nearly forty Quebec and Canadian art galleries present works by the 400 artists they represent. Each day will be presented three interviews and round tables.

Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal will give their very first concert since the start of the pandemic this Thursday, November 25 at the Basilica of Saint Joseph’s Oratory, under the direction of choir director Andrew Gray. Placed under the sign of meditation, sharing and appeasement, with pieces on the menu such as amazing Grace and Suo Gân, the concert will also be dedicated to those who have been affected by COVID-19 for a year and a half. “We want to make these voices of children and young people heard to instill hope and beauty,” said the general director of Les Petits Chanteurs, Marie-Pierre Rolland.

On the occasion of the presentation, at the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM), of the documentary Dear Audrey, dedicated to filmmaker Martin Duckworth, the Tënk site offers free access to six films made by the latter. Director and cinematographer, Duckworth worked for a long time at the NFB and is recognized for his committed work. Until December 3, Tënk presents five of his films: Témiscamingue, Quebec, A history of women (with Joyce Rock and Sophie Bissonnette), Never again from Hiroshima, Dear Santa and Eyes of the heart (with Glen Salzman). The sixth film, The bomb as a bonus, is a realization of Claire Nadon and Audrey Schirmer, spouse of Mr. Duckworth, who is here in the director of photography.

Fifteen years of Brazilian films
From November 26 to December 2, the Parc cinema welcomes the 15e edition of the Montreal Brazilian Film Festival. The programming is strong of 14 films (two per day), fiction and documentaries, giving the pulse of current Brazilian society. The event will open with Three summers, by Sandra Kogut, a creaking comedy whose story is camped around Mada (Regina Casé), the governess of a wealthy family in Rio de Janeiro who decides to take advantage of the house she is in charge of.

Augustine’s passion in cine-concert

Léa Pool’s beautiful film released in 2015, which won six prizes at the Gala du cinéma québécois in 2016, will be presented in a cine-concert at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts on November 27. It will be screened in high definition while the 50 musicians of the FILMharmonic Orchestra and Choir, led by the young conductor Francis Choinière, will accompany it by playing the music written by François Dompierre. Pianist Meagan Milatz, for her part, will perform Lysandre Ménard’s score in the film.

From the 1er December, Quebec’s favorite family will return to the stage after more than 15 years of absence. Claudette, Liette, Ghyslaine, Michel and Paul Dion invite the public to celebrate Christmas Eve with them at the Casino de Montréal. Classical songs and family anecdotes are on the program for the Dion clan high mass, more than a year after the death of their matriarch. Several performances are planned during the month of December.

Twelve years after its last release, Bell Orchestra is back with a third album, House Music.
Twelve years after its last release, Bell Orchester is back with a third album, House Music. The post-rock formation of six musicians, including two members of Arcade Fire, will present their new material under the arrangements of composer Owen Pallet during a special concert with the Orchester symphonique de Montréal. On the stage of the Maison symphonique, on November 25, the musicians will also perform the score of Fire Bird, ballet in two tableaux by Stravinsky.
