The Movement Series at Ausgang Plaza
Ausgang Plaza is teaming up with Nuit blanche for the second version of its series of video capsules where a dancer is paired with a rhythm designer (beatmaker) to create a choreography from an original song. Aïcha and High Klassified, Brenda Fernandez and RealMind, Steve Senga and Étienne L. Lavigueur, as well as Nubian Néné and funkywhat will notably be reunited. The 10 performances of all styles (trap, dancehall, soca, house) will be broadcast on the web for free during the Nuit blanche and online two days later on the Ausgang Plaza YouTube channel. You can also listen to and download the 10 musical works on Bandcamp.
special JS Tenderness
The ICI Première radio channel offers a nostalgic start to Nuit blanche. A special program that will undoubtedly delight the joyful cohort of admirers of the indescribable Jean-Sébastien Girard (The evening is still young, among other feats of arms). On the program of this JS Tenderness : an interview with Herbert Léonard; a tribute to Mike Brant prepared by the former editor of the Homework Josee Boileau; as well as a mood column from our colleague from The Press Dominic Tardif. This nightly special from JS Tenderness will be followed by Until the end, hosted live by Nicolas Ouellet, at the stroke of midnight. The host will offer two hours of music, interviews and performances to help us discover the next generation of musicians from here. Saturday, February 26 from 10 p.m., on 95.1 FM.
Remix/Media in belgium
Espace 230, at the Belgo, will welcome the public during the Nuit blanche of the Montréal en lumière festival, for an exhibition with happening accents. A contemporary art and “Hip-Hop/Downtempo” evening, orchestrated by Morti Viventear in the musical selection. The works of Sylvie Adams, Luis Fernando Suárez and Louis-Bernard St-Jean will be transformed to the sound of his music to create an eclectic atmosphere punctuated by irresistible rhythms. The evening will take place from 5 p.m. to… 11:59 p.m., no doubt to prevent insomniacs from turning into pumpkins after midnight.
At 372 Sainte-Catherine Street West, room 230
Funk & Soul in the City on the balcony
Also as part of the Nuit blanche à Montréal event next Saturday, Le Balcon invites night owls to Funk & Soul in the City, a new show starring Michelle Sweeney. An ideal opportunity to wiggle your hips to the sound of funk, soul and disco music, a rhythmic cocktail designed for this event that aims to be both “festive and intimate”, and which will take place in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles.
At the Balcony: 463, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, from 9:15 p.m. to midnight
