“Crying in front of bread”, Hugo Mudie

After reaching almost 25 years of career, Quebec punk icon Hugo Mudie is exhausted. In the work Crying over bread, the forty-year-old talks openly about his last two tours in Mexico and France, with his Mudie project. However, the artist was in so much physical (and mental) pain during these musical outings that he ended up shedding tears during trivial moments, such as entering a bakery. With self-deprecation, the man we also know for his group The Sainte Catherines enjoys “fuck the dog with conventions” by abandoning any tough-guy image. He exposes his faults bluntly, while paying homage to friendship. Throughout the pages, he also delivers a vibrant plea for musicians who choose a path other than that of popular culture: “I say it here. Not in my name, but in that of everyoneunderground (musical at least): We are superior. It’s not a question of taste. It’s just better. It’s a matter of passion, effort, guts, boldness, heart. »
