[Critique] “Sleep in a Louisiana Bayou”, We are the Musical Opossums

A family story, in more ways than one. There is the family that the singer Bïa introduces us to in her story: musical Opossums who, every Saturday evening in the Louisiana bayou, stretch their legs and encourage rapprochement. Jean-Guy, the little dobro handler, stared at a brunette “in the light of the moon”. Irresistible, these Opossums. Since a long time. Speaking of which, how did it come about for Mama Poss and Papa Poss, both united couple and popular duo? Well, a bit like the Bïa Krieger–Érik West-Millette couple, just as united but whose records and shows take place rather separately. But not this time: the lovebirds have found in these Opossums the smiling and dancing way of telling their own family story, with the help of Olaf Gundel, West-Millette’s official collaborator, as well as an illustrator with soft features, Fanny Berthiaume. Between the delicious tunes of the trio and the traditional songs revisited (and put into context, skilfully), there is more, let’s dare to use the cliché here, but to let the good times roll.
