[Critique] “Quebec seen from above”, Mario Faubert

After being part of Yann-Arthus Bertrand’s team, the author of the famous book The earth from the skythe aviator-photographer Mario Faubert proposes Quebec seen from above, the splendid result of a quarter of a century criss-crossing our skies. Designed for tourists who wish to bring home proof of the magnificence of Quebec’s landscapes, the book will also certainly arouse the dazzle of those who live in this grandiose and nevertheless threatened territory. Printed on glossy paper, most often in full-page format, the 150 photos taken by plane or drone represent all regions of Quebec according to a thematic logic: forests, waterways, villages, cities, seasons… We marvel at the multiple manifestations of human activity — the chapter on recreational practices is moreover very touching — but these are virgin lands as far as the eye can see, larger than life, so to speak, that provoke the strongest emotions; there are real paintings that touch on the spiritual.
