Il est tout court, the third solo album by Jonathan Nobody (Corridor), eight original songs in 33 minutes, all delicious with their patina sixties applied by director Emmanuel Éthier, this dry drumming (Sam Gougoux), these plucked guitars, soaked in The Byrds-style echo. But now, we only want to listen to two of them on repeat, and only them. The third of the album, first: it’s called A faceless man, the verse alternates minor mode and major mode, its serpentine melody, there is a sadness in the soft voice of Nobody who is answered in the coda by a second voice. It looks like the ghost of a yé-yé rock singer from Quebec, it’s absolutely beautiful. The song ends abruptly, as if the guitar were dropped onto the floor; then it is picked up again and begins to thunder, announcing the most muscular Two eyes at the bottom of a black room. This time, sadness mingles with distress. The launch concert will take place at the Fairmount Theater on September 28, as part of POP Montreal.
