[Critique] “Couper/Cut”: cut the thread

Since 2020, the Hurlantes éditrices have published a dozen books, atypical and generally feminist works, such as the monologue Cut (Cut) by the Australian Duncan J. Graham, which they have just published in an edition which combines the original English text and the French translation by Véronique Pascal. In a series of vignettes which blur the boundaries between dream and reality, which hold both romantic narrative and poetry, which alternate between the first and third person, we evoke the destiny of a woman, agent board, constantly pursued by a man. “The heart wants to come out of his chest. The score, disconcerting to say the least, ends with a violent catharsis. In this triumph of the unconscious, a thread is cut for good, a gesture that one could consider as taking control of oneself. Véronique Pascal performer Cut until 1er April in the intimate room of the Prospero theatre, a show produced by Les Compagnons baroques and directed by Marc-André Thibault.
