The pandemic, we repeat, has sparked several solo musical careers. blind man is the first album of Mantisse, one of the three vocalists of the LaF collective, the other two having already presented their own project. It is also, of the three, the most coherent, the best thought out, in terms of themes as well as in terms of musical production, driven by the composer Bnjmn.lloyd: his quasi garage house swing on At signits dreamy rhythm deconstructed on Corypheusthe textured orchestrations of chaga (with Jamaz), Michelangelo (along with Jamaz and Bkay, dare we say this is the best song in LaF’s repertoire) and Sunny Delight (in which Étienne Coppée collaborates) give a lot of luster and flavor to the proposal. In his own way, Mantisse sings as much as he raps, expressing the spleen that has inhabited us over the past two disconcerting years: “Lost as Beelzebub / The walls and the catapults / The enemies and the reinforcements / The empty streets the cinema of our exodus / Before, always, before we implode”, he hums on At sign.
