This fourth album by the Canadian post-punk quartet was composed and recorded in Montreal, Calgary (their hometown) and New York with the assistance, it is said, of an “infinite” quantity of cannabis gummies. who inspired guitarist and keyboardist Scott Munro with these dense and impressive orchestrations. Of the Fix Bayonets! at the opening, we feel a burst of heat and energy which makes a powerful impression and spreads over the six other songs of this fascinating album, with the exception of Ricochet which follows, its fat acoustic guitar chords clashing with the rest of the songs, often inspired by the anxiety-provoking atmosphere instilled by Joy Division. This disc, slices the singer and bassist Matt Flegel, speaks about the world on the verge of exploding while the population does not care: this loss of contact with the urgency of our reality is expressed perfectly on the seven minutes of the staggering Advisorthe synthetic violins doing their best to keep the rhythm on its path.
