[Critique] “185 on the Corner”, Paul Jacobs

Author, composer, performer and handyman in album production — from cover to music video, instrumentation and production — Paul Jacobs offers a new EP that we want to present as being transitional , both its atmospheres more groovy and posed fit him like a glove. Less garage and punk than the album Pink Dogs on the Green Grass released in the spring of 2021, embracing his love for musical psychedelia in a different way. To the point of being inspired by the Beatles, era Sgt. Pepperon The Tree Outside My House, cozy, tangy, although the least interesting of his four new songs. the backbeat insisting onAfter Dark in opening is tastier, the song could have stretched well beyond its four minutes so much we feel at ease there. More pop and melodic, hold-on makes you smile; finally, I Find It Hard to Believe carries folk guitars and a swaying rhythm reminiscent of Beck’s belles. In concert at the Festival d’été de Québec on July 13 at 6 p.m.
