COVID-19 | The Montreal Auto Show victim of the Omicron variant

Faced with the increase in the spread of the Omicron variant, the Montreal International Auto Show cancels the holding of its event which was to take place in January 2022

This is what the SIAM organizing committee announced this morning, citing uncertainty over the easing measures regarding the organization of indoor events for the coming weeks.

“It is really not with a good heart that we are taking this decision,” said Luis Pereira, executive director of SIAM.

“Montreal being the first major auto show on the Canadian circuit, we think it would be irresponsible to organize a major public event with the increase in Covid cases. We are disappointed for the public and for our partners who supported us: the Palais des congrès, the manufacturers, the exhibitors and the employees. We were really confident that the event was going to happen this year. Omicron has come to muddy the waters. But it is our corporate responsibility. “

All visitors who have purchased tickets will be refunded.
