These 30 new deaths bring the daily average calculated over seven days to 17. The trend is down 44% over a period of one week.

On Tuesday, there was a drop of 34 hospitalizations, which translates into 101 new hospital admissions and 135 discharges. To date, 1,742 patients are still hospitalized in connection with COVID-19, of which 107 are in intensive care, a marked drop of 12 cases in 24 hours on this plan (eight entries, 20 exits).

For the time being, the 1,742 people hospitalized represent a decrease of 15% compared to last week. The 107 patients in intensive care represent a decrease of 19%.

Authorities also identified 1,438 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the daily average to 1,665 in this regard. This represents a drop of 30% over one week. However, it should be remembered that the limitations imposed on screening make these data much less representative.

Last Sunday, Public Health carried out 17,158 screening tests, a relatively stable figure compared to the weekly average. More than 91,460 rapid tests have so far been “self-declared” on the platform of the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS), of which a large majority, or nearly 71,300 of them, presented a positive diagnosis.

On the vaccination side, the pace of the campaign continues to slow down markedly. During the day on Monday, barely 14,450 additional doses were administered, to which are added 579 vaccines given before February 21 which had not yet been counted.

About 18.6 million doses have been given to Quebecers since the start of the pandemic, including people vaccinated outside the province.

All of this new data comes as Quebec is set to announce on Tuesday that mandatory mask wearing will drop at school after spring break, as Public Health has given the green light to end mandatory mask wearing for elementary school students. and secondary. Most of the sanitary measures must be lifted in Quebec as of March 14. This also applies to the vaccination passport, which will no longer be required.
