The decline in hospitalizations observed in recent days has continued over the past 24 hours in Quebec.
According to data released Saturday by the Ministry of Health, the number of hospitalizations fell below the 3,000 threshold for the first time since January 11. Authorities listed 2,975 patients linked to COVID-19, a drop of 116 from the previous day. However, there were 231 patients in intensive care, an increase of three.
Santé Québec reports 3,510 new cases, for a total of 856,630 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.
The average of new cases for the past seven days stands at 3,734, a drop of more than 35% compared to last Saturday.
Authorities have not released data on the number of rapid tests registered on the self-reporting platform set up by the government. On Friday, they said they counted 33,144, including 25,082 positive.
Sixty-six new deaths were added to the death toll. We now deplore 13,179 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.
The number of active outbreaks decreased slightly from 1476 to 1474.
A total of 30,412 scans were performed on January 27. The positivity rate fell 0.5 percentage points to 11.2.
No less than 78,961 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, including 63,313 booster doses and 12,722 second doses.
The percentage of people aged 5 and over who received a first dose is still around 90%. It is also reported that approximately 84% of the Quebec population received a second dose and that approximately 44% received a booster dose.
