This is because of the many donkeys used for the work of the vines located in this country made of hills. On the other hand, when the donkeys began to bray and answered each other from coast to coast, the surrounding neighbors would say “do you hear the donkeys of Courgis? referring to their owners.

“Courgis animations”

“Courgis animation” is an association created by three young women wishing to bring together the inhabitants of this small village around events… garage sales, Halloween parties, shows, egg hunts…. An association essential to the life of Courgis!

Jeannette Rousseau and Retif de la Bretonne in Courgis

Restif de La Bretonne is one of the most endearing personalities of the 18th century. Shepherd, typographer, writer, reformer, philosopher, libertine, visionary, he was all of these at the same time.

Born in Sacy in the Yonne, he was placed at the age of 13 with his brother who was the priest of Courgis. It was there that he fell madly in love with little Jeannette Rousseau … a fantasized idyll that he would recount in “Mister Nicholas”a work in which he portrays his childhood memories.
