Armed against the cold

You too, your skin sends signals of distress with this great cold to which it has been exposed for a few weeks? Fortunately, we had on hand the wonderfully rich, hydrating and very calming Emma cream by the fabulous Montreal brand Luxcey. Its founder, Rose Gwet, is inspired by the beauty rituals of women in her parents’ native village, in Cameroon, where she also lived for a few years, and ingredients from the equatorial forest. Emma balm contains in particular organic and fair trade palm kernel butter (a precious product, not to be confused with butter or palm oil), raw and organic cocoa butter giving it its sweet chocolate smell and oil Kalahari melon, emollient and restorative. It is used on the body and even on the face to calm extra-dry skin. Promise: you won’t be able to do without it.

PHOTO PROVIDED BY EVERIST

Everist Waterless Body Wash Concentrate

Concerned about the environmental effects of plastic containers, the founders of the Canadian company Everist have created a line of concentrated waterless body and hair wash products. They therefore take up less space and they fit in a fully recyclable aluminum tube. In the shower, this tube is squeezed to extract a small amount which is gently lathered with water. We tested the body wash all January and the whole family was pleasantly surprised by the rich lather generated by just two or three centimeters of concentrated soap. This plant-based product has a sweet citrus scent without drying out the skin. A great discovery.

PHOTO PROVIDED BY SUMMER FRIDAYS

Summer Fridays Light Aura Eye Cream

We really like the vegan brand Summer Fridays for its fresh, simple and effective products (which scream summer, what more could you ask for?), and its latest product, an eye contour cream, did not disappoint us. Let’s say it falls flat. Do you feel drawn features? Tired skin? Here’s what you need. Called Light Aura, free of parabens, sulfates and synthetic dyes, the blend is incredibly rich, and deeply nourishes that delicate and often thirsty (abused) little corner of the face. Based on vitamin C (with antioxidant benefits) and, surprise, caffeine, the product promises a smoothing, illuminating and firming effect. If we don’t expect miracles either (let’s be realistic, please!), one thing is certain, here is a super-hydrating cream. Ideal in the morning, before applying concealer and make-up. Please note: a small amount is enough. Beware of waste. We would probably have preferred a product in a tube, to facilitate a more moderate application.

PHOTO PROVIDED BY LABORATOIRE DR RENAUD

Pure Re Rejuvenating Sumptuous Cream[Gene]

Don’t let the catchy name of this “Pure Re Rejuvenating Sumptuous” cream fool you.[Gene] — advice to manufacturers of skincare products, in 2022, those who want to rejuvenate are turning to something other than a jar of cream, despite all the seriousness of the science that created it. Nobody is getting any younger and, fortunately, what we want is rather to take care of ourselves. So let’s focus on the sumptuous aspect of the product, since it is indeed the case. This rich texture that we sometimes forget, thanks to serums and other more targeted treatments. The Quebec company Laboratoire Dr Renaud brings us back to a daily cream that simply hydrates and leaves the skin looking clean and supple. Exactly what we want.

Price: $140 (50ml), offered online and at associated institutes
