Discussions will continue in Glasgow for at least the entire evening of Friday 12 November, as part of the Cop26. Journalist Matthieu Boisseau, in duplex from Scotland, takes stock of the situation.

Negotiations are in full swing in Glasgow, Scotland as part of COP26. “You have to imagine 200 countries around the table, discussing, negotiating every sentence and sometimes even every word of this long-awaited declaration”, reports journalist Matthieu Boisseau, in duplex on Friday, November 12.

He mentions three major sticking points. The first concerns the commitment, in writing, to abandon the funding of fossil fuel projects. The second concerns “Financial aid for vulnerable countries which are already struck daily by the disasters of the climate crisis”, and finally the third “the promise to increase CO2 emissions more quickly”. Discussions will continue at least throughout the evening, adds Matthieu Boisseau.
