Full-bodied, but respectful debates: this is the new bet of Guy Nantel, who launched the web series on Thursday Must talk about it. The comedian, accustomed to polemics, promises “discussions-debates as we very rarely see in Quebec.”
The first capsule, already online on Guy Nantel’s Facebook page, pits comedian Mike Ward and left-wing columnist Marc-André Cyr on the theme of freedom of expression. In a press release, Guy Nantel explains that he wanted to explore certain questions that he addresses in a collection of fresh thoughts, The offending book.
Among the subjects “which polarize Quebec the most in 2021”, the former candidate for the leadership of the Parti Québécois also retained for the webseries the LGBTQ + struggle, systemic racism, the culture of rape and journalism. This theme will notably come under the magnifying glass of chronicler Patrick Lagacé.
A total of five 25-minute episodes were produced by Entourage. A new capsule will be posted on Facebook every Thursday until November 18. With this derivative of Offensive book, Guy Nantel wants to prove that “exchange is the best way to bring people together, even if they share different ideas”.
