Highway 25 and the Saint-Pierre interchange should be avoided this weekend, as the Ministry of Transport anticipates several road obstructions there. Traffic should also be heavy on the island of Montreal, on Robert-Bourassa and René-Lévesque boulevards, as well as on the Ville-Marie highway.
This was confirmed Thursday by the Mobilité Montréal committee, responsible for coordinating major work in the metropolitan region.
From Friday evening to Monday morning, Highway 25 will first be completely closed in the south direction, between exit 5 leading to Sherbrooke Street and the entrance from Souligny Avenue. Motorists will therefore have to take a detour via De Boucherville, Hochelaga or Dickson streets.
But that’s not all. Between Saturday and Sunday morning, Avenue Souligny will also be closed in the west direction, between the Honoré-Beaugrand and Dickson axes. Here again, marked detours will direct traffic towards Hochelaga or Notre-Dame streets.
Not far from there, the Saint-Pierre interchange also risks being heavily congested. Quebec will close the ramp leading from Route 138 East to Highway 20 East, towards the city center, for the entire weekend.
Moreover, one of the two lanes of this ramp will be cut off for a month from Monday, namely from November 6 to 1er December.
Motorists will therefore instead have to take the ramp for Highway 20-West, then take the junction towards 1D Avenue and turn around once you reach Montreal-Toronto Boulevard. The Ministry of Transport reminded Thursday that congestion is likely to be abundant in the Saint-Pierre interchange, but also on the Honoré-Mercier bridge.
In Ville-Marie, Robert-Bourassa Boulevard will be closed in the north direction, between Wellington and William streets, from Friday evening to Sunday evening. McGill, Saint-Jacques, Peel and Notre-Dame streets will serve as detours.
Boulevard René-Lévesque will also be blocked in the east direction between avenue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville and boulevard Saint-Laurent, from Friday evening to Monday morning. In the opposite direction, towards the west, one of the two lanes will be cut off in the same perimeter.
In addition, exit 6 of the Ville-Marie highway, leading to Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Berri Street, will be inaccessible to the east for the entire weekend.
On the South Shore, finally, the road network will not be left out. First, in Kahnawake, the ramp leading from Route 138-East to Route 132-East will also have to be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning. Then, in Boucherville, we will have to completely close the service road of Highway 20-East at the interchange with Highway 30.
