The Ibis RockCorps project offers concert tickets to young people, in exchange for four hours of volunteering. Reporting.
An army of volunteers, the majority of whom are students, give their time to restore part of a Parisian Emmaüs accommodation center. “It’s even more motivating to be there to help homeless people”, confides Louane, volunteer within the Ibis RockCorps project. For four hours, they will improvise as decorator, maintenance agent or mover. In exchange, they will receive a ticket to a major concert reserved for them.
A unique way to attract young people, who have become aware of the solidarity action on social networks. “It’s true that it’s motivating to come and say that in the end, we will be rewarded”, admits a young girl. Some residents will also attend the concert. “It touches me, this gesture”, confides Slim, a beneficiary. Now, one-off projects fit into students’ often busy schedules. “We know that 10 to 15% of these young people will then become more committed young people”rejoices Alan Nobili, Ibis RockCorps engagement manager.
