Inflation in energy prices is joining forces with the health crisis to make life difficult for businesses. Several of them have seen their bills multiply by five or six, compared to last year.

Predictions of rising electricity bills have some bosses shuddering. “We are roughly on an annual consumption of 800,000 kWh, which represents approximately 90,000 euros per year. There, the forecasts are at 600,000 euros per year.e “, testifies Yannick Chopin, the owner of a sawmill, which has difficulty in projecting itself despite the increase in orders.

To remedy this heavy increase, Yannick Chopin decided to install a generator with a noise barrier, in order to preserve the neighborhood. This option would theoretically cost him a maximum of 30,000 euros per month, including diesel, or 20,000 less than the prices offered by his supplier. The precaution is temporary, but necessary in the face of prices which have continued to increase for a year. Some businesses are forced to increase the prices of their products to survive inflation.
