On Wednesday, February 23, the film “Compagnons” by director François Favras will be released. It is the story of a young girl in difficulty, who, by meeting the manager of a reintegration site, will discover the universe of the companions of duty, demanding and passionate craftsmen.

Naëlle does not see a future. His city is a trap that governs his daily life. It’s a clash of cultures when she visits the house of companions with other young people from her neighborhood, and discovers manual work of excellence. “For me, that’s the purpose of the film, to give back the letters of nobility to manual work, to show young people how real openings on a future they are”explains the director, François Favras.

An outstretched hand that radically changes Naëlle’s life. With a master glassmaker, she learns a trade, but not only. To be a companion is to enter an ancestral community, founded on values of fraternity and mutual aid. The companions built the cathedrals, through the centuries they passed on their know-how, tours of France and immutable rites, on which the cinema has rarely looked. A world that continues to arouse vocations in a society that is nevertheless increasingly virtual.
