A cold wave will sweep across Quebec on Sunday and should continue until the end of the week. Extreme cold warnings are in effect for several regions of the province.
“It starts further north and goes south, possibly affecting Montreal,” confirms Environment Canada meteorologist Katarina Radovanovic in an interview. The regions for which an extreme cold warning is already in effect are Chibougamau and Nord-du-Québec. Abitibi and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean should also be particularly affected by this episode of cold during the week.
“In Montreal, temperatures could drop to minus 20oh in the morning for several days, and we could fetch at least 25oh early Friday, ”continues the meteorologist. In southern Quebec, the lowest temperatures should be reached towards the end of the week.
Several regions of the country are affected by cold spells, including Manitoba. Wind chill near minus 40 is forecast in Winnipeg for the weekend and early next week. Parts of Saskatchewan and northern Ontario are also affected by significant cooling.
