Cœur de pirate, Alessandra Sublet, Serena Williams… These stars who suffered from postpartum depression

star or not, postpartum depression don’t choose. Hair loss, pain, emotional yo-yo, fatigue… The aftermath of childbirth is not always as easy as one might imagine. Some stars talk about it openly, in the media, like on social networks.

“It fell on me with violence, as if I had become another woman that I no longer recognized, at the same time dumb, amorphous and incapable of performing the simplest gestures, such as giving my daughter a bath or even give him a bottle”, told Alessandra Sublet in 2013 in the She. The host had also released a book that same year entitled “Do you have the blues, baby?”.

An experience shared by Cœur de pirate more recently. “Mental health check, post partum edition. For people who are in the same situation as me, I think of you”she wrote in the caption of a series of photos revealing the difficulty of recovering from her last childbirth : her hair loss, her tears, her ever rounded belly, her fatigue.

Celine Dion also confided to the Gala in 2010 her postnatal depression. “At times, I was happy and fulfilled, the next moment I was overcome by fatigue and I was crying for no reason. A few days after returning from the maternity ward, I felt empty and I had no more no appetite. And I got angry for nothing”, she expressed. More recently Kylie Jenner also spoke of her experience following the birth of her son, Stormi’s little brother.

And many other famous women express themselves in this way, to make all those who go through this dirty period feel guilty, such as Serena WilliamsChrissy Teigen, Jennifer LopezBritney Spears twice after each son’s birth. “After the birth of my little girl, I realized that the psychological and physical fatigue of mothers could occur suddenly”also confided Hapsatou Sy on his blog in 2018. “Nine months is the time it takes to get used to the idea. And since I didn’t have time to enjoy it, I think it took me the next nine months”also explained the actress Audrey Fleurot in the columns of the Huffington Post still in 2018.
