One small gesture at a time
The current disaster has been caused by a multitude of small (and not so small) actions. So any move in the opposite direction will help push back the deadline that awaits us. Every reduction in environmentally destructive behavior is a victory. Every kilometer of reduction in transport is a plus for the planet. Just get into the habit of cutting back a little more each month and sticking to it. I’m not sure this can be enough, but from experience you will be satisfied with your expression in your mirror.

Do not change anything
I won’t change anything at all. I don’t overconsume and I don’t waste. Here is the recipe.
Guy-Marcel Archambault
Be engaged
My behavior is not perfect, but I have been very committed personally for 30 years (little meat even with 3 children, washable diapers, few family plane trips, only one electric car since the children left, compost, washing milk bags, washable toilet paper, daily lunches, etc.). In order to do more, as president of psychiatrists in Quebec, I discuss and aim for conferences and plans for carbon neutral psychiatry in Quebec, if possible.
Claire Gamache
Carbon neutral transport
I made two major changes in 2020, namely swapping my gasoline car for an electric model, and using the bike for my daily trips to work, 12 months out of 12. I intend to keep this habit for them. years to come.

Corvette vs. electric vehicle
I just sold my 2008 Corvette so that I can buy an electric vehicle next spring. It was time.
Daniel Mercier
Transport, plastic, meat
I will reduce the use of gasoline-powered cars and take the metro to the office three times a week, consume less plastic, and eat less meat.
Jean Rivest
No intention
My comment is neither positive nor constructive; I recognize him. But at the dawn of my 60’se year, after having worked very hard to achieve even a little the little comfort that previous generations had dangled in me, I have no intention of reducing it to help this environmental cause. I know, it’s selfish. When the big companies consider doing their part, maybe I’ll reconsider my position. But I might be 90 when that happens.

Trees, SUVs and buy local
We have planted 5,000 trees on our land in Estrie and, even though we live in the countryside, we have opted for a new fully electric SUV. Also, we buy as much as possible locally.
Pierre Pichette
A drop of water in the ocean
We went from a three story house to a small condo; from two cars to one, from a RAV4 to an electric car. We collect, compost and eat less meat. It’s a drop of water in the ocean, but if everyone gets down to it …

Reduce your consumption
I replaced all chemical and bottled cleaners with vinegar and baking soda. I replaced the shampoo bottles with the shampoo bar. I reuse as much as possible anything that is cellophane paper for freezing. I always have an aluminum thermos mug with me to put my tea or coffee in so that I don’t use a plastic or disposable cardboard container. I replaced the laundry soap with a reusable, re-energizable cleaning ball. And I develop the reflex of “Do I really need it?” “.

Resist, and brag about it
Resist the pressure to change, so keep my car, my furniture, my computer, my tablet and my cell phone as long as possible. And above all, to brag about it.

From the source
I am going to urge our political representatives to do everything they can to ensure that the suppliers of goods and services change their habits, because they are the ones who can make the difference: the harvesting and processing of foodstuffs, products, distribution, packaging. I believe it should be from the source and not from the end use.
Georges bourgie
Awareness
In our case, we drastically cut meat consumption, bought a house with no wood or gas fireplace and located within walking distance of grocery stores and pharmacies, changed our big SUV for a hybrid vehicle, bought cars local products, encouraged our local retailers, postponed our air travel, ate as much as possible seasonal and not imported… and so on. All this while being very happy with these changes. Awareness is more than necessary for our children and grandchildren …

Citizen, before being a consumer
For my part, I have already undertaken several changes in recent years: drastic reduction in my consumption of meat, particularly red meat, bulk purchases and local purchases favored for food, elimination of food waste, reduction of clothing purchases. and other goods, limiting myself to the replacement of worn out or broken goods, drastic reduction of objects thrown in the trash, registration in a program to reduce the consumption of electrical energy, reduction of trips outside Quebec. For the future, I intend to continue these good habits by improving them. It is in terms of consumption that I can have the most impact. I consider that I am a citizen before being a consumer. We must think about the scope of our actions before doing them.
