Climate change: storms, fires, heat wave… a summer marked by extreme episodes

The 19/20 is in Brittany, Friday October 14, for a special edition devoted to climate change. L’summer 2022 has indeed been marked by extreme climatic episodes. From the first days of June, the color was announced, with scorching temperatures. In the forests of Gironde, the nightmare began in mid-July, with a megafire never seen in France. More than 10,000 people had to be evacuated, sometimes twice during the summer.

At the same time, the Breton forest of Broceliande was on fire, just like the Maine-et-Loire, and even Jura. When it was hoped that the storm would bring coolness to Corsica, it brought devastation. Unpredictable, the storm exceeded 200 km / h, and killed two vacationers. Violent thunderstorms, but largely insufficient rains: more than 80 departments are still experiencing water restrictions at the start of autumn.
