The pandemic cut short the plans for this new circus installed in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, more precisely in the picturesque village of Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska, and which has taken up the challenge of offering circus shows. in the open air, integrating with the particular territory of this corner of the country, particularly the cabourons, rocky hills characteristic of the Kamouraska region.
Founded by Elyme Gilbert, who has several years of experience in the field — notably with Cirque du Soleil — Cirque de la Pointe-Sèche recently announced its return for this summer with the new show Charcoal, directed by Alix Dufresne, whose signature is the coexistence of different artistic disciplines — dance, theater, circus. “After several months of great darkness for the Quebec artistic community, the synopsis of the show Charcoal invites us to reach out to the light: dare to dream of an adventure full of sunshine and possibilities,” the company explained in a press release.
A dozen circus artists from Montreal, Quebec, Brazil, Mexico and the United States will participate. Performances will take place after dark, from July 7 to September 4.
