This Thursday, October 13, fans of singer Christophe are heartbroken. The artist, interpreter of the essential Aline, would have celebrated its 76th birthday. More than two years after his death, no one has forgotten him, even less the public for whom he had reserved several surprises during his life, in particular that of a visit to his apartment, his “lair“as he liked to call it.
Christophe had invited the cameras of Paris Première to his home in an exceptional way. The singer had opened wide the doors of his apartment, in which he admitted to living only at night. Daniel Bevilacqua, his real name, even served himself a glass of wine to start the interview and give information on this place of life in which he created, sang, edited or produced songs that everyone continues to sing despite his disappearance.
In the apartment, a corner “studio” reserved for music with harpsichord, instruments and mixing desk: “Over there, it’s my creative side, where I make the sound” he described to the journalist before turning to the many objects that adorned his home. He notably owned a bronze, his last acquisition representing a shoe from the women of the Moulin Rouge. But what made Christophe vibrate (and undoubtedly the walls of his apartment too), it was all the big collectibles he had laid out in the main room. Jukeboxes, radio sets, large picture frames, vintage photos, “objects like that that I wanted to see mixed with others.“Those precious things he held dear have since disappeared.
Carried away at the age of 74, Christophe did not have time to prepare for his departure. What happened to all these decorative elements? They have been sold! Le Figaro announced in October 2020 that the apartment had been completely gutted in an effort to hold a public auction that would allow fans to own one thing from their idol. The event had also brought in the tidy sum of 650,000 euros.
