Friday, December 17, the day of departure on vacation was complicated for those who traveled on the South-East axis. The strike was nevertheless called by the unions.

Friday, December 17 was a hard day for tens of thousands of travelers. On the South-East network, only one TGV in two is running today. “I had a ticket for this morning, I moved it to midday: I was able to find another one, so I’m lucky”, confides a woman. The strike call launched earlier this week by three railway unions was finally lifted on Thursday. But too late, according to the SNCF, to reorganize the traffic plan for Friday.

On the eve of the first weekend of the Christmas holidays, travelers are torn between fatalism and exasperation. “It put us off our whole day and it’s a bit of a hassle to get home”, specifies a man. Faced with delays and cancellations, some travelers have opted for carpooling. Others had to make up their minds to take the bus, a boon for this transport company. An almost normal return is expected throughout France from Saturday, December 18.
