There is no age to play! The adult target is increasingly targeted by major brands and toy distribution chains with dedicated offers to appeal to older children. So much so that the Joué Club brand even recently announced the upcoming publication of a catalog intended for adults. And it is no longer a niche: games and toys for over 18s represent more than 20% of the total market. We have therefore made a small selection of gifts to please the “kidults” and others.
The Titanic in Lego: all in excess for adults.
110 years after its launch in Belfast, LEGO pays homage to the infamous Titanic, with a set that matches its disproportion to the one who was once a giant of the seas. On the menu for these few days of assembly: 9,090 parts to assemble, 135 cm from bow to stern and 44 cm in height.
So at France Blue, we took up the challenge of building what is currently the largest set sold by the Danish manufacturer. Let’s get rid of the question of the assembly time now: 3 Sundays from around 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a more or less long break for lunch. The construction is divided into three stages, corresponding to the 3 boxes that make up the huge 14kg box of the toy.
Each box contains approximately 3000 pieces distributed in sachets, and a notice in the form of a booklet, embellished with period photos, historical elements and technical data of the Titanic. It’s a pleasure to take your time and watch the boat come to life under our fingers, especially as the Lego designers have not hesitated to push the interior details, such as engine rooms, ballrooms, the smoking rooms, the indoor swimming pool, etc … The construction is not difficult, you just have to be attentive to the different stages, and the construction techniques are interesting. The boat is therefore made up of 3 large parts, assembled in a precise manner and stiffened by a “key” system which will facilitate locking and transport. It is also by separating these 3 parts that we discover the details of the decks, cabins, ballrooms, restaurants, meticulously reproduced.
In conclusion, it is a superb expositional model (it does not float), intended for an audience adult, which will have the place to exhibit it, and the means to afford it: € 629.99.
VW Camper: the nostalgic adventure starts here!
It’s a legend to reproduce in bricks. If you’ve ever gone on vacation with a van T2, it will necessarily remind you of memories! Lego had already offered the Combi T1 in the past, and more recently, a very “West Coast” interpretation of the beetle. But this time, the van is even more successful: the door is sliding thanks to an ingenious push button system, the wheels are steered, the roof can be lifted for sleeping, and all the interior furniture is functional: cupboards, kitchen, sink, surfboard and two folding logues chairs. Of course, we find the legendary engine at the rear. The set measures 35 cm, consists of 2,200 pieces and costs € 159.99.
MegaBoom speaker: at home or in the evening, it will never leave you.
We always need a connected speaker. Practical, transportable, mobile, and endowed with a good autonomy, Ultimate Ears (Logitech), the manufacturer, offers with the MegaBoom 3 a very nice product: the exterior is entirely covered with a colorful weave, pleasant to the touch. Its use is ultra simplified : 3 buttons only, including a “+” and a “-” for the sound volume. Once paired with your smartphone or tablet, you can choose to use the manufacturer’s application, or not. The sound quality is excellent, 360 degrees around the speaker, indoors, or outdoors. And good plan: it is really waterproof. It will be able to fall into the water for a good minute, without being damaged. Count on average 169 €.
