Christmas decorations, or how to garland from the cellar to the attic

This text is part of the special Plaisirs booklet

A Christmas tree and a festive table, that goes without saying. But still ? Why not give a festive air to all the rooms in the house – the bedroom, the reading nook, the stairwell – thanks to well-chosen ornaments… and made here? Here are some local inspirations, sometimes classic, sometimes original, but always elegant, which will allow you to reinvent your holiday decor in style.

Classic door wreath

A must-have that never goes out of fashion: the Christmas wreath hanging on the front door! This is a great way to welcome guests. For a touch of modernity, choose a very natural creation made from local fir trees, casseroles or dried flowers. Then, at the end of the festivities, we carefully keep the base of the vine wreath, which can be reused from year to year.

Soft pillows for reading nook

A few cushions are enough to change your decor with the seasons. Nothing flashy: in the living room, a throw with Scandinavian-inspired patterns or cushions adorned with a winter landscape in black and white, for example, will do very well. Nice to keep warm during the cold December evenings.

Festive scene on the windowsill

Small illuminated houses, coniferous garlands, candle holders, minimalist statuettes: easy to embellish the windowsills, even the smallest! If we are lucky enough to have a large window at the front of the house, we can, in addition, hang a delicate wreath (and why not illuminated) which will be visible from the outside.

Soft glow in the bedroom

We create a magical atmosphere while subtlety even in the room thanks to a few cleverly chosen candles or a lantern that evokes a winter landscape. Without taking up too much space on the bedside table, these objects will bathe the room in pretty light effects more than welcome when the days keep getting shorter.

Christmas stocking for the fireplace mantel

In December, we dress the mantle of the fireplace with Christmas stockings. To stay in tune, we avoid flashy patterns and opt for a neutral shade that goes well with the living room decoration. The height of chic: stockings made from velvet. A little affordable luxury.

Warm tree

No space to install a large tree? Never mind, even the smallest Christmas tree will make its mark with some elegant ornaments in shades of cream and gold. Very stylish ! We also spoil ourselves with a string of state-of-the-art sparkling lights, which we can control from our smartphone.

Festive centerpiece

What would the Christmas table be without the traditional candles? Here, simplicity is essential. The centerpiece leaves plenty of room for the dishes (after all, the stars of the meal are the delicacies that we will have cooked all day!). The idea to copy: a little greenery, immaculate candlesticks and long candles that will slowly burn out throughout New Year’s Eve.
