Nice introduction for the yellows and blacks! The handball players Team Chambé beat the Romanians of Constanta this Saturday, 27 to 23 on the floor of the Phare de Chambéry, in front of around 2,000 spectators. Leading throughout the match against an aggressive team, they therefore offer themselves a four-point lead for the second leg of the first preliminary round of the EHF European Cup.
The striker Benjamin Richert, particularly in shape, offered 8 goals to the Chambériens, out of 11 attempts. Chambéry Savoie Mont-Blanc Handball must now maintain its lead to hope to pass the two preliminary rounds and reach the group stages. “We’re expecting an even more complicated return game there with the atmosphere quite hostile, so it’s going to be cool to play“, says right-back Alexandre Tritta.
A reunion with the European Cup… and another dimension for the preparation of matches, as coach Erick Mathé explains: “We have a kind of unknown part when we play, even if we had seen videos, it’s still players we know a little less than in the French championship, so it serves as our experience. Our refereeing is a little less permissive on this aggressiveness in the French championship, so it allows us to meet other styles of opposition.“
Return match against Constanta in Romania on Saturday 3 September. The Chambéries will start the Star League championship on September 9.
