(New York) MLS fined CF Montreal defender Joel Waterman for not leaving the field within a reasonable time on Saturday in Washington, against DC United.
The amount of the sanction was not revealed on Tuesday.
Waterman initially received a red card in the 55the minute for a tackle against midfielder Theodore Ku-DiPietro.
The foul was reduced to a yellow card after a review, but only after Waterman had pleaded his case for more than a minute.
Montreal lost 1-0 thanks to Pedro Santos’ goal in the 84the minute.
Waterman, a 28-year-old British Columbian, played 90 minutes in each of CF’s five games this season.
The club will face the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, concluding a six-game road trip to start the season.
