Defending their stronghold of Stade Saputo tooth and nail for the past few months, CF Montreal once again went unanswered at home, having been defeated 1-0 by Atlanta United on Saturday night.
It’s a second straight loss at home for the men in blue-white-black, but also a third game in a row where they can’t find the way to the goal. Last Saturday, New York City FC also left Montreal with a 1-0 win.

Once again, the local favorites knocked on the door, without however disturbing the opposing goalkeeper. They headed 15 balls to veteran Brad Guzan’s goal, but only one shot went on target despite 12 minutes of stoppage time in the second half.
Rudy Camacho received the first yellow card of the game in the 53e minute, but this turned out to be very expensive. The defensive intervention of the French offered a free kick well placed in Atlanta, directly in the axis.
It was Thiago Almada who was responsible for shooting him. His shot crashed into the post to the left of Jonathan Sirois, who had stretched his full length. The return, however, came directly to the foot of Brooks Lennon and he did not hesitate to send the ball into the back of the net.
The American defender is far from being recognized as an offensive player, but he has now hit the mark in his last two games.
Captain Samuel Piette was back in the lineup for this game, after being sidelined for three months. His groin injury was originally expected to cause him to miss six to eight weeks of activity, but his absence has been prolonged.
The Quebecer was not used by head coach Hernan Losada. The Argentine gave minutes to less prominent young players like Jojea Kwizera, Jules-Anthony Vilsaint and Nathan Saliba.
CF Montreal will return to the road to face the Chicago Fire on Wednesday. However, he will return to Stade Saputo on Saturday to receive a visit from Charlotte FC.
