(Québec) A young driver is fighting for his life after going off the road in the last few hours in Saint-Majorique-de-Grantham, in the Centre-du-Québec region.
The swerve occurred shortly before 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning on Route 143, which also bears the name of Boulevard Lemire Ouest at this location.
The vehicle ended up in a ditch. No other vehicle was involved and the driver was alone in his vehicle.
“A 21-year-old man was seriously injured and transported to the hospital center where we currently fear for his life,” said Sergeant Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
An SQ police officer specializing in collision investigation was called to the scene to analyze the scene.
“Several hypotheses are being studied. Steps are being taken to find out if the driver was impaired by alcohol,” said Sergeant Bernard.
The Sûreté du Québec investigation is ongoing.
